Advocating Murder

This comment was just submitted and approved on the comments section, on the latest Harlow story at www.advocate.com:

Incidentally, The Advocate is owned by Regents Entertainment Media Inc., the parent company of the Here! TV Network.

Update: The Advocate opts to give no further sanction to one of it's contributors who called for murder, other than to edit out one line of his comment:

People are going to say ignorant crap like that -

Advocate should not have posted that comment though.

I wonder if bb is calling herself taffy now?

VJ-
You write, "I wonder if bb is calling herself taffy now?"

Glad you noticed the similarity.

jim said...

Given that we have a bona fide call for murder in front of us, I guess someone should call the police.

After all, that's what we're supposed to do with all statements Advocating murder, right folks? In ALL cases?

DeW, this murder Advocater seems to be in San Diego...so, you wanna go ahead, and call the SDPD?

jim said...

Hmmmm, and The Advocate is in LA, so, someone should probably call the LAPD as well.

PC said...

Gee... I wonder if The Advocate got permission to use all of those pictures? Someone should file a DMCA. lol

Jody said...

Every idiot is entitled to their opinion...

But. You can't make terroristic threats on-line. The Advocate should delete the post.

Jody said...

Sorry, the comment.

Geoff Harvard said...

I think we just doubled the readership of the Advocate.

Rather adventurous of them to allow a commenter to advocate the death of private persons.

jim said...

Indeed.

jim,
the feeling you got reading that comment from "The Advocate"
is similar to the feelings I would get every time I would read something from bb.

jim said...

Yeah, with the notable difference that BB hasn't actually called for death squads to be formed.

I give him credit for that.

BTW lets see if the post is still there...

jim said...

Ah yes it is! But I see it hasn't gone unresponded to.

I'll only be really offended by this if the troll's comment isn't removed. There's obviously no moderation there, so give them some time.

I'm really more disturbed by this factual error:

"Corrigan had performed in a number of titles for Cobra Video before he turned 18 and, until early last year, was entangled in a litigious feud with Cobra over the use of his stage name."

Lack of moderation is one thing, but there's no excuse for lazy fact checking.

BB said...

Taff is not well informed. Grant and Sean are ex lovers.

jim said...

Will, there have been numerous problems with The Advocate's "journalism" of this case.

Just for fun, see the preceeding stories this same author wrote. Especially the "verdict" story. Count how many errors you find, and what slant those errors happen to take.

Keeping in mind of course, the corporate pedigree I mentioned at the outset.

I second that VJ. It's the kind of vitrolic he deals in.

Jody no need to apologize for your remark. It is accurate.

I am appalled at the Advocate for allowing an open death threat to be published in your comment section.(comment RW Taff)

Considering the news article in question reports on the conviction and sentencing of H.Cuadra for the murder of a Gay Pornography producer who was killed after a Death threat was voiced!

I am forwarding this comment and article to San Diego Police Dept.

Shame on you for allowing such a morally reprehensible AND ILLEGAL Comment to be posted

Yes making a Death Threat ONLINE is a criminal offense.

RW Taff comment still there as of 1:00 PM Eastern -- not good.

Yes. You have to wonder what is going on behind the scenes there.

At 2:22 p.m. EDT, the statement that S/G should die is edited out. The preceding two sentences blaming Grant for the Kocis murder remain. It's still libel, in my opinion, given that two other people have been convicted of the crime, and testimony was given that Grant had nothing to do with it. Maybe a civil suit settlement with the Advocate's publisher would keep Sean and Grant going for a couple of years.

will g said...

I don't disagree that it's libel Geoff, and I've said so many times. However, these kinds of posts are still rampant, unfortunately, on ATKOL and elsewhere, not just the Advocate. Hell, until very recently they were rampant here and on PC's, and they were allowed to be published. So we shouldn't be so judgmental about the Advocate for leaving it in IMO.

jim said...

I'm not really too familiar with ATKOL Will, so I'm asking this to gain knowledge: Has anyone, that you can recall, on ATKOL ever come forward and advocated murder?

jim said...

They edited rather than deleted? That's unbelievable.

will g said...

No Jim, and I'm not saying that kind of statement should be allowed anywhere. The Advocate correctly deleted it. I'm just talking about the ones saying Sean and Grant conspired in the murder. There are still people saying that on ATKOL and other places and, libel or not, the posts are being allowed.

jim said...

I see.

will g said...

To see very recent posts accusing Sean and Grant of complicity in the murder, I would refer you to the recently renamed "It' Elmteligence" [sic].

jim said...

Those don't really bother me. It's the one's calling for murder that I'm most concerned about.

Because as DeW points out, it was Harlow and Joe's murder talk in Vegas that preceded an actual murder.

I hope the Advocate is cooperating fully with police investigating this poster.

By their tepid "editing" reaction, my hopes are dim on this score. Looks to me like the powers at be at the Advocate are determined to nuture and coddle this terrorist.

Thanks for the heads up. We edited the letter to take out wording that could be considered threatening.
Best,

You know, I kinda wanna just write "LOL" here, but somehow, that just doesn't quite adequately convey my feelings on reading that reply, DeW.

It does say a lot about the character of the folks at Regent Media, I must say.

The [sic] is not referring to my stupid typo. Elm did spell "It's" correctly. . .

Someone in editorial at the Advocate just got his ass kicked in the Managing Editor's and the Legal Counsel's offices.

That remark, the whole thing, should never have been posted at all.

Grant said...

My attorneys have been notified and they are currently in contact with all of federal, state and local authorities on this. The same goes for any future threats or related to this ugly act of violence!

Be fore warned; You can run but you can't hide on the world wide web. Ask Joe and Harlow! Sooner or later, they will find you!

Rob said...

Grant the only logical course open to you is the proactive one you are taking. Godspeed.

BB said...

Grant,

Be careful what you say and how you say it. Lessons learned and all that...

You yourself are no stranger to making threats.

Let the authorities deal with it. It should be easy enough to trace.

Well, yes, BB indeed does go to "The Advocate" site as he has mentioned previously, there is an electronic trail leading right to their door step.

jim said...

It'll be interesting to see if Regent Media will fully cooperate with the police on this.

So, I guess now, three days out from the event, someone could reference a SDPD case number we can access on the net.

jim said...

SDPD does not put it's cases on the net.

I remember this factoid from way back, when blogger Julien was actually forced to call the SDPD to verify to his own satisfaction the Brent underage drinking arrest incident.

Compare and contrast Dallas, which places it's police reports online (which porn stars can then right-click copy, then photoshop them up to make their rape claims more realistic).

BB said...

"Geoff ALL Death threats were reported from the beginning."

Did you report the death threat you made towards me? No biggie if you did not, I did. Its how I got your name/address/phone number. Seen it in the police report I had to sign.

Want proof?
