Police, saying they were responding to citizen complaints, carted away two large promotional photographs from the Abercrombie & Fitch store in Lynnhaven Mall on Saturday and cited the manager on obscenity charges....

This by the way is the same liberal-minded jurisdiction Joe Kerekes personally assured me via open comment on April 14 had green-lighted their escort business:
"...and the Srgt shook my hand and says OUR department officially will leave you guys alone as it is clear You do your job right! This made press and only big BUCKS it was at this point we purchased our 1 million dollar home."
Yeah...this seems plausible...

I think it's OK for the city to push back against smarmy images displayed in the Lynnhaven Mall. If I were walking through the mall with wife and kids and some punk pulled his pants down in front of us, I would punch his goddamned lights out. So why wouldn't it tighten my jaw to see a huge mural depicting the same bare ass? it's better for the city politely to ask AF management to moderate their tone and then arrest them when they don't than it is for individuals to rip down the murals on their own.
When I was a kid, we had a freer country, but that was in part because most people agreed to respect other people's moral space. In 1958 I could walk past Jack Kerouac's house on the way to my piano lesson at Mr. Kimble's without having to absorb the moral tone of his novels.
We had a better society when Abercrombie and Fitch sold sporting goods to hunters and not faggy clothes to high school kids.
Well...it's not a whole bare ass. I've seem plumbers show a lot more. Unfortunately.
The whole point of the ad campaign seems to say "Buy A&F: Our Clothes Don't Fit Well."

Typical teen to 20 something A&F customer: We don't like the rent's choice of typical, respectable duds--that ain't what it takes to get noticed by you Elmer Fudds, pants up high enough to cover the jewels but low enough on our thighs to make you really roll your eyes--that's what it takes to get noticed by you Elmer Fudds.
Personally, I think this situation is a lot like ridding yourself of a mouse with a field howitzer--definite overkill.
Blame Pat Robertson one of his minons from HELL(his Law School) is the Local DA!

And I say again what I said above. I got no fukin sympathy for A&F and their smarmy, indecent advertizing.
You know it is funny - I was in that business for 8 years [modelling] and what I see here is Bruce Weber [photog.] and the ad guy [he is a riot] trying to "push it", they try to each season because it gets dull. And when this sort of thing happens they get more exposure and even more business.
Reminiscent of Calvin K. ads around 10 years ago which did reek a bit of underage porn IMO- just a strange young porn look- got pulled and they loved it.
Geoff actually I should have said the Virginia Beach ADA who handled Joe and Harlows extradition to PA was the Regents Graduate,,, give him time he will be THE DA;-)

Much ado about nothing. Virginia Beach will have a hard time defining this picture as obscene. I've never been there but I am guessing one would see a lot more flesh on the beach. (You guys do have a beach don't you? Or is that just a clever name like 'Greenland.)
I have never shopped at an A&F store and can't recall ever being in one so I miss the homophobic part. In fact this seems to fall more into the category of homoerotic art. I see boys running off to a nude swimming hole.
My definition of obscene has more to do with the fact that 95% of all humans should never be seen naked, They are obscene. About 1% should never have to wear clothes unless they are cold.
