2012 Reunion on Schedule for this Coming Monday, March 12

Well, no book yet, darn it. But we'll re-une anyways! In fact, let's start things off with a preliminary contest of sorts...

To your right is a photo of someone who will be the lead topic of the the upcoming 2012 SOTC Reunion post. Now I am curious...does anyone here know who this fellow is? Comment if you know, or have a good guess. And if you don't know, well that's fine too! It makes the decision to have him be this year's lead-off hitter all the more justified.

I'll give you but one hint: He IS someone we've talked about on this blog before.

See you all on Monday!

Update: Well Geoff's just given me a great idea. Let's make this more of a What's My Line competition; you can ask a yes/no question about our Mystery Guest; yes allows you to keep asking, no means you have to pass to the next commenter. For example:

The fat guy in the green shirt looks like some kind of indie filmmaker (looks like half the attendees at the Florida Film Festival) and I'm guessing that the skinny guy to his left is Sean Lockhart. Obviously we can eliminate DJ Greaseball, Bryan Kocis, Grant, and Papi as well as the two convictees.

jim said...

Hi Geoff!

No, this guy is not an indie filmmaker.

Jesus Mother Marie, how were we supposed to know about this early post? Geoff must have some sort of alert thingy, I guess I do too but I never since I "follow" this blog, but I never check it...

(Jim actually opened a Twitter account, @ChinchillaJim, which is how I found out. Yes, Hell has frozen over.)

So...since this search came up empty, and I have no clue who the mystery guest is, my question is:

Has this person been a FREQUENT topic of discussion? I.e., was he brought up in numerous posts, as opposed to one or two?

jim said...

Hi Will!

Yes, a name search reveals our Mystery Guest has been brought up in more than two posts. So, you may continue!

will g said...

Dammit I hit Publish before I had a chance to proof that, the last sentence of 1st paragraph should read:

I guess I do too since I "follow" this blog, but I never check it...

will g said...

To the best of your knowledge, did this person's name come up in testimony at the trial? If you don't know for certain, an "I think so" will count as a yes!

jim said...

No, sorry, this person's name did not come up at the trial.

The countdown, lets see, Geoff was 9, so, now we are at 8. Game over when we get to zero I guess.

So, whose up next? DeW? Albert? VJ? BB?

Anonymous said...

well lets see, we have someone who has been on this blog more than twice before, but someone too insignificant to have been mentioned at the kocis trial. hummmm...

is this a high school yearbook picture of damon kruzer?

jim said...

HA! Well anonymous good sir, your logical reasoning skills are beyond reproach, yet sadly, I must say no.

Despite his well known irrelevancy to the case (and pretty much everything else on the planet as well), and despite sharing the same athletic physique, this is not Kent Barclay aka Damon Kruezer, at any stage of his development.

So I believe we are now down to 7. Next up, who wants to go next? Geoff or Will, take another stab at it?

will g said...

I was going to wait to give others a turn, but since there's nobody else here...DeWayne where are you? I have a feeling you might actually know who this is.

I made the mistake of going back and perusing this blog from the very beginning to see if I could spot a likely suspect, and got totally sidetracked reading early posts that I've never really taken the time to read before. It didn't help me at all with the task at hand but it sure was interesting.

OK here's my question (since Geoff guessed that the "skinny guy" in the photo is Sean):

Has Sean ever met this person?

jim said...

There is no record anywhere of S-P-L ever having met this person. Which of course does not rule out a chance encounter I may be unaware of, but sorry, the answer here would have to be officially "no."

So, we are down to 6! Who's next?

jim said...

And yeah, I'm having the same problem ... I'm re-reading my own blog after an absence of a year, reading stuff I wrote three years ago, and thinking "I actually wrote all this stuff???" :-D

DeWayne In San Diego said...

hmm mentioned more than twice but not at the trial. Should I KNOW who this person is? I have seen the man before just can't pin a name on him.

And hello Jim your blogger alert went to spam good thing you got that shhh shudder Twitter ;-0

jim said...

Hi DeW!

And "should" you know this person? Well, he was a topic of conversation here for a while, so I'd say if you'd heard his name, you'd recognize it.

And so that'll count as a "yes" I think. Free free to ask again, DeW!

Geoff Harvard said...

Could this be a client of Trent and Harlow at Norfolk Male Escorts (not Nep)?

DeWayne In San Diego said...

Hey Jim in my defense I am heavily medicated (allergy's) ;-) Is this a Harlow john NOT called to the trial? (I think only two were called)

jim said...

Ah you and Geoff simultaneously asked the same question!

And the answer is no. So, we are down to 5, I believe.

Geoff, since that was supposed to be DeW's question, I'll go ahead and let you go next if you so choose.

DeWayne In San Diego said...

If Geoff or Will have no idea I am stumped...

Geoff Harvard said...

This is a pathetic looking individual, so I am going to say Robert Wagner associate.

jim said...

No, there's no known association in any way with RW.

So, we're at 4.

Will, or someone else want to take a stab?

will g said...

Aaaand we have our first obligatory Robert Wagner reference. Plus les choses changent, plus elles restent les mêmes.

Has this person been featured prominently in posts by you Jim? (As opposed to mainly being discussed in the threads?)

jim said...

Will, yes, this person has been mentioned by me prominently in the main body of my posts.

And, for that matter, will be on Monday. So, ask again Will!

(And Geoff, hold off on your Q in the Q until after Will is done here ...)

DeWayne In San Diego said...

well Jim you did succeed in your nefarious plan to have us all vacuum read thru your blog. Still no dice (or name of this guy)in a scan thru 2007 to the beginning of the the trial.

One observation

I was sure an opinionated SOB GOD where did I get off saying have the shit I spouted back then. ;-p

I was looking at my olde blogspot thinking of reactivating it so the copious links you referenced on your blog to mine would work again.

All my old posts were imported into the present blog unfortunately the old links that point to blogspot only work for me.

My blog was taken private back in 2009 because I had gone commercial porn (which is against Blogger TOS) not because of content. I leave it in this state because the blogspot posts imported into wordpress (my current blog) still have pix and video hosted on Blogspot.(even if the original posts are no longer visble)

Still sometime I may find the energy to wade thru the 759 posts on blogspot delete the commerical porn posts and turn it back on/ Then your links will work.

My issue so many of those posts are damn embarrsing in retrospect.

One lesson I have learned in 5 years?

You can spot a newbie blogger in one post they are SO GREEN

SO FLAMING

and DRAMA QUEENS.

So Jim that once again brings up my old musings about you.. ;-)

You never struck me (or any of us) as a newbie.

No sir Jim you are an old pro at blogs, writing and such.

And I do not think I am any closer to figuring you out.

Except I think you just love those Chinchillas ;-P

You have any furry little pets? ;->

will g said...

Is he a blogger? Is he YOU? (Wouldn't Geoff be emabarrassed!)

OK, just answer the first one.

will g said...

Haha I hadn't even seen DeWayne's post yet when I asked my last questions.

jim said...

Yes, our Mystery Guest has indeed written a blog before.

You're on a roll Will ...

will g said...

The main reason I asked that is I ran across this post. Is it him?

DeWayne In San Diego said...

Damn a blogger well he does LOOK like one. (I have gained 30 lbs since 2007)

Back to the posts boy Jim you sure love playing these strings puppetmaster ;-p

jim said...

No, sorry, it is not retired Officer Blakester.

So, we are at 3.

Geoff, you had a question in the Q I had to hold off posting, then deleted due to it being out of time sequence. Would you like to re-ask that one, or another?

jim said...

And as a digression ...

Ah Blakester! You know, I have my own pet theory about him (which I can't recall if I've ever shared with you all), that he was the Virginia trooper who tipped Harlow and Joe off to the SWAT raid.

And that's why he's a FORMER trooper (not due to an injury, like he claims). And that's why he was such an annoyingly persistent Harlowite. Eh, it's a theory. If I can ever prove it, oh you bet that'll become a blog post!

But in any case, no that's not him in the photograph.

DeWayne In San Diego said...

I think you hit that dead on Jim we always knew they had an inside crooked cop. It was intimated but never really discussed.

jim said...

Yeah if I recall, Joe mentioned this on the BBTs, their own VA Beach trooper who "fixed" things for them?

Terry said...

Hello Jim ! New follower here :)
Even after 5 years I found the so-called "Kocisphere" so interesting (especially if you knew about it just few months ago !).
IMO, it tells a lot about human greed and obsessions and how they often lead to a destructive path :(
Congratulations on your blog, I've really enjoyed it and the many good comments ! I'm glad you decided to keep it up with all the comments too.
And what a nice idea the yearly reunion ! Without it, how could I say "THANK YOU !!!! " ;)
<3 Terry.
PS: sorry for my grammatical errors, as you can easily understand, English is not my first language -.-'

Geoff Harvard said...

I assume this is someone not connected to the Bryan Kocis murder or the convictees or the investigation or the trial. It must be someone who came into the blog as a side issue, like unto Mason Wyler. Are his initials WW?

jim said...

Thanks Terry, and welcome! :-)

jim said...

Ah Geoff has asked three questions! Lets take them in order ...

Yes, your assumption this is someone not connected to the Bryan Kocis murder or the convictees or the investigation or the trial is CORRECT.

Yes, this person came into the blog as a side issue, like unto Mason Wyler.

No, sorry, his initials are not WW.

That third question brings us down to 2.

Who wants to go next?

will g said...

Wow that was clever of Geoff, he asked 3 questions in one comment, a YES, a YES, and a NO in that order. Otherwise, it would have been cheating...

I was going to say Geoff wasted his last question, as WW was never the subject of a post here, when lo and behold I discovered I was wrong.

No question for now, I'm stumped.
