Judge Olszewski Restores the Faith

In an op-ed piece on Monday, Ed Lewis notes on how two Harlow Cuadra jurors were so moved by the fairness and professionalism of the trial they sat on, that they wrote to the now-presiding judge expressing gratitude and restored faith in their local judicial system:

“As a taxpayer of Luzerne County, I was ashamed and disappointed with the scandal that fell upon the county courthouse,” wrote Juror No. 1 Ellen Matulis. “On Feb. 17, 2009, I reported for jury duty with fear and dread in my heart. … Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr. started the trial …with great authority and intelligence of the law. He was fair and impartial yet showed respect and compassion for all parties involved in the case including the jurors.”

Alternate Juror No. 1 Shannon M. Gurski wrote “… I was very unsure of what to expect when I was selected to be a juror in this case, particularly given all that has happened over the course of the last several months. I am very pleased to say that Judge Olszewski Jr. has restored my faith in the Luzerne County judicial system. His integrity and obvious devotion to the law were inspiring to witness over the three weeks that I was in his courtroom.”
A great piece, read the whole thing. And on a side note, I think it also demonstrates how hopeless the chances are for Harlow's appeal. If the jurors themselves are so impressed with the trial's fairness as to be sending in testamonials, then it seems highly unlikely to me that appeals judges are going to disagree with that.

Update: Off topic, but here's something for us students of Kabbala and Karma to ponder...perhaps this:

"Anyone who supports Brent Corrigan is no longer a friend of mine ..."
...has something to do with this:

"...For some strange reason all my great and wonderful friends seemed to be no where in sight nor did they have any time for me..."
Update 2: LOL!

Update 3: LOL!

I hope Harlow appeal will go
through I still think Harlow will have a chance when he was found gulity, I feel for him and his family he deserves a second chance.
I think it was a fair trial if Harlow tesify in his behalf properly maybe a different outcome.
i still don't believe in death penalty cause it will never bring back the victim.

Every three weeks of so there is a post from someone, a post completely out of the blue that think Harlow is innocent, or as we see in this post, not as guilty as the jury in PA thinks.

A kind of "I don't care what the evidence proves, I do not think he did it.

(Or in this case), ok, he did it but I think he deserves another chance at life because he is just so cute as a button! And it is hard on a family to see their "cute as a button" son go down for hard time.

These jokers that keep coming up for air from their suffocating bubble that they live in just can't imagine what it feels like to be tricked into letting a young hustler into your house, and having your head cut off before having your cock stabbed 28 or 29 times, and then feeling heat that is hotter than the fire of hell around you as your house burns down.

Harlow deserves a second chance so that next time he thinks up an idea like this one, he leaves no evidence?

And if you decide to kill someone, never send your pictures to them. And when you follow through on your evil plans, do not contact your escorting clients and ask them to lie to you in a court of law. And do not tell the whole story on hidden tape recordings.

Naw, most feel that Harlow should get his second chance to live in a secure gated community where there is not a chance (in hell) for him to make these deadly mistakes again.

It's best to be on the cautious side, and keep Harlow safe from all these bad people out in the world who could set him up to do something he would never do all on his own. He needs the protection that 24 hour security can bring him.

He really is better off with this protection, because there are just too many bad bad people out there (like Joe) in the world that might try and set him up. And since he is still a young impressionable boy, it could all happen again. And we would not want that would we?

There is no need to believe or not believe in the death penalty at this point. Harlow is too young and too good looking, there is plenty of work in prison he can do with his strong body, lots of cleaning, and more cleaning. They need young guys who can work hard to keep the place clean. Did I say clean?

So it all worked out in the end. Faith in Justice has been restored. The state, the jury and the people do not agree with you Anonymous. You need to know that you are alone here.... and barking up the wrong tree.

But Harlow has been saved by the jury, and now can make plans for his future. It is good that the worst is now over. While his future is not bright, it at least is not as dark as it was a couple of months ago.

I'll have more to say on this point in my final post, but one of the things that have kept me interested in this for two years has been the absolute inability of some people to grasp reality in this case.

Quicky--

That encapsulates well the Harlowite faction; now you see/hear and now you don't. Nothing the Harlowites ever proposed came to life.

As for Jason Ridge, if he was trying for some kind of PR fallout, he miscalculated. Harlow was KO'd with the jury verdict. He can easily spend the next 15 years or so running on the appeal treadmill with the same result--Harlow stays in prison. The only way he leaves is feet first in a cheap suit and a pine box.

You know, the Update is even more curious, when you consider the person who is rumored to have originally bankrolled Ridgeline Studios was none other than White Party promoter Jeffrey Sanker.

Meanwhile, not everyone had a bad time at this year's White Party...here's one random gay guy who had a "blast" at his first White Party, enjoying plenty of friends (old and new) and sustained by only one bottle of Moscato all weekend:

But, here's a contrarian opinion to that...although note the author admits his bias, and that as such he was not in attendance:

Still, the photos are a hoot! :-)

Nep is hoping Harlow's appeal will be succesful, that is not a surprise.

Eternity is a long wait I'll say, and a day after might be just a little too long.

"if Harlow tesify in his behalf properly maybe a different outcome."

Properly? No, his goose was cooked before he took that stand.

If Nep had tossed that letter in the trash right away and never mentioned it, and then would have testified that Harlow and him were together that night, all night long having a major good time, then the outcome might have been different.

Harlow needed a friend who would do anything for him, and that he did not have in the end. Nep could have saved Harlow, but no it was not to be. LOL
